Jocelyne Penn is a partner at Health Equity Ventures, an investment and advisory firm focused on supporting organizations and start-up companies in creating equitable access to quality care for vulnerable populations.
A graduate of the University of California Los Angeles, she earned bachelors degrees in social anthropology and political science, and then went on to complete her MBA at UCLA in the year 2000.
For the last 20 years, she has held roles in the business development, clinical advisory, GTM strategy and leadership for Eli Lilly, Medtronic, Boston Scientific as well as for a few health-focused start-up companies in the data analytics and telehealth SaaS space.
Over the years and in the process of delivering commercial results for organizations and clients - health systems, insurance companies, life science companies - she witnessed extreme inequities in healthcare for poor people, under-represented minorities, people with disabilities, etc. As such, she has chosen to focus her energy and passion on helping clients and portfolio companies optimize how they align their healthcare and business operations with health equity principles while achieving commercial success.
The mother of a son with special learning needs, Jocelyne is very active in the special education advocacy space and was appointed to the Board of the North Regional Community Advisory Committee in California in 2021. Working with her husband Michael (founder of Health Equity Ventures), she currently lives in the East Bay and spends her time raising two amazing kids.
