Stephanie Gandomi is a board certified, licensed genetic counselor. She earned her Master of Science in genetic counseling at Brandeis University in 2006 and her MBA from Boise State University in 2019. In 2006, Stephanie co-founded the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital MFM clinic at Stanford Perinatal Diagnostic Center in Salinas, and in 2013, joined Ambry genetics as a reporting genetic counselor for microarray and whole exome sequencing. In 2013, she became the product manager for Ambry’s clinical genomics (WES) business and was the marketing lead for Ambry’s re-launch of their ExomeNext product line. After her time at Ambry,  Stephanie joined Invitae supporting the rare disease commercial segment of Medical Affairs with a focus on WES and neurology NGS. In 2016, Stephanie became the first genetic counselor in the Blue Cross Blue Shield System of payers as the Principal Program Manager for precision medicine at Blue Shield of California. At Blue Shield of California, Stephanie helped drive the creation of many new and novel medical policies, including the WES and WGS medical policy with GeneDx and Rady Children’s. During her time at Blue Shield of CA, Stephanie co-founded the Boise State University Genetic Counseling Master of Science program which was the first-ever online ABGC certified GC training program in the country. In 2016, Stephanie became the Director of Genetics at UnitedHealthcare supporting prior authorization and medical policy creation for genetics, before returning to Ambry in December 2020 as the Health Plans Director, Policy Specialist focused on driving WES medical policy, optimizing revenue cycle and claims submission coding, and generating profitable volume growth.  She is currently Director, Market Access at GeneDx supporting insurance coverage and patient access for whole exome and whole genome sequencing. Stephanie is an AAPC Certified Professional Coder for insurance billing and reimbursement and an AAPC Certified Professional Compliance Officer for insurance-related regulatory (CMS, OIG, HIPAA, etc.).
